One flat price, cut your way

Every bird is Rs 2,650 dressed — whole, cut, boneless or qeema — and skin on adds Rs 300. Desi birds are smaller than commercial broilers, but a desi bird feeds about the same as a much heavier broiler because there is less water in it.

Dressed and cleaned, skinless unless you ask. Delivery Rs 350, free above Rs 3,500.

Two different birds, sold honestly

Most sellers quietly mix retired layers into their desi chicken. We separate them and label them clearly — because they are genuinely a different product, not a lesser one.

Karahi bird — young cockerel

Raised for meat, six to eight months old. Tender enough for karahi, roast, fry or barbecue. This is what you want if you are cooking the bird quickly and eating the meat as meat.

Yakhni hen — retired layer

A hen that has finished laying, eighteen months or older. Firmer meat, far deeper flavour, and a stock that actually sets. Wrong for a fry, unbeatable for yakhni, pulao or a long curry. Clearly labelled, so you buy her for the right dish.

Why this matters. An old hen sold as a young bird is the most common quiet substitution in this trade, and you only find out an hour into cooking. We would rather sell you the hen deliberately, clearly labelled, for the right dish.

Chicken questions

How much does desi chicken cost in Islamabad?

Every desi bird is Rs 2,650 dressed, whichever bird you choose and however you want it cut — whole, 12 or 16 piece, boneless or qeema. Skin on adds Rs 300. A cut or whole bird carries roughly 800 to 900 grams of meat; boneless or qeema from the same bird comes to roughly 500 to 600 grams.

What is the difference between a karahi bird and a yakhni hen?

A karahi bird is a young desi cockerel raised for meat, tender enough for karahi, roast or fry. A yakhni hen is a laying hen that has finished her productive life. She is an older bird with firmer meat and far more flavour, which makes excellent yakhni, stock and slow-cooked dishes but will be tough if you fry her. We label them separately so you always know which bird you are buying.

Is the chicken halal?

Yes. Hand-slaughtered by a Muslim slaughterer on the farm, facing qibla, with the name of Allah recited. No mechanical slaughter and no stunning.

Is the chicken fresh or frozen?

Fresh, never frozen. Birds are slaughtered on the morning of your delivery day and delivered chilled on ice packs the same day.

Can I choose the size of the bird?

Desi birds do not grow to uniform sizes, so we pick from what is ready that week and every bird is the same flat price. As a guide, a whole or cut bird carries roughly 800 to 900 grams of meat, and a boneless or qeema order comes to roughly 500 to 600 grams.

Do you clean and cut the bird?

Every bird comes dressed and cleaned inside, skinless unless you ask — skin on adds Rs 300. Cutting is free: say so in your WhatsApp order — twelve-piece, sixteen-piece, boneless, qeema, or however you cook — and we cut it before dispatch at no extra charge.
